A shocking discovery at the home of billionaire hedge fund manager Louis Bacon has the Lyford Cay community up in arms and many of the residents wondering if Peter Nygard was right about his neighbor all along.
Louis Bacon

Police units invaded Lyford Cay just days ago when it was reported that there was a dead body found at Bacon’s home.  Perhaps the fact that this is the second death investigation at his home caused police patrol units to swarm the area leading to much alarm in the Lyford Cay community.
The first death was that of Dan Tuckfield, who some media reports have indicated was a suspected drug runner for Bacon.  He was found naked floating in Bacon’s pool and authorities never released the autopsy report to the public.  Media outlets are waiting for the Commissioner of Police to keep his promise and make Tuckfield's autopsy report public.
Police sawrm around Bacon's home in the Bahamas

This time, the lifeless body of a man believed to be a Haitian national was found dead on a beach that falls within the boundaries of Louis Bacon’s Point House Estate. It’s unclear whether or not the deceased was employed by Bacon.
dangerous military speakers used by Bacon.
Bahamian police say that they are investigating the alleged drowning. Authorities say they received information around 12:00 noon Friday (June 8th) that the body of a black man was found floating in waters at Lyford Cay. All authorities are saying is that he was retrieved from the shoreline and pronounced dead.

During the Tuckfield investigation, police found nearly ten guns in Bacon’s home and although they were licensed, all were in plain view and accessible to anyone in the home.
It seems Bacon has an affinity for weapons.  He has a pair of long range acoustic devices used by the military to control large crowds of thousands of people.  Nygard is still seeking justice after Bacon used these speakers illegally on his neighbor and his guests.

FNM Still Reeling After Election Defeat

Louis Bacon
Hubert Ingraham
Former Prime Minister Hubert Ingraham is still hanging his head in shame after boosting up rich foreign investors about the Free National Movement's (FNM's) chances for election victory on this past May 7.  However he let down dozens of them and topping the list are investors such as Aga Khan IV and Louis Bacon who had everything in terms of their investments in the Bahamas dependent on the FNM victory.

For the Aga Khan, Bell Island has already been damaged but at least with the new Progressive Liberal Party government in power, he won't be able to destroy the once pristine island again without proper approval.

Earl Deveaux
But the investor most irate is Louis Bacon; he funneled so much money to the FNM for the elections and was so convinced of their win by his close comrade former Environment Minister Earl Deveaux, that he is still reeling after the defeat.

Election sponsors in America and the UK must be declared b y the political parties seeking governance.  That is why the Republican Party and the Tories both declared that Louis Bacon sponsored them a half a million dollars, noting that it is understood by many that the donations may actually far exceed what is declared.  With this in mind, the amount of money that Louis Bacon gave the FNM is suspected to be in the millions.

This is why it is believed that former Minister of National Security Tommy Turnquest and Former Leader of Government Business in the Senate Dion Foulkes stuck their necks out and accidentally tarnished their image by admitting and defending an investor who had brought mega speaker weapons into the country and was allowed to keep them; and who dredged his private drug-running style marina along the coast at his house illegally.

Tommy Turnquest
Bacon was dealt the worst hand of all the investors when days before the May 7 General Elections, he was listed on a criminal docket which brought charges against him and several others accused of using illegal tactics to bring down his neighbor and enemy, Peter Nygard.  Managing Director of the Lyford Cay Property Owners Association Mary Braithwate was also listed on the docket for her party in ignoring the pleas of Mr. Nygard as his neighbor used terror tactics in his efforts to build his property up over Nygard Cay.  A private investigator and former police officer were also listed for their part in seeking out employees and former employees of Nygard to pay them thousands of dollars to make up lies against him in order to tarnish his name.  Employees of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation were also caught up in the foray for assisting Bacon in his illegal attempt to bring down his neighbor by airing a nationally viewed documentary in Canada full of lies about Nygard, a well-respected fashion mogul in Canada.
Bacon's dangerous speakers are used by the military (LRAD devices)

Bacon's luck could get no worse - one of the last duties of Former Attorney General John Delaney, as instructed by Hubert Ingraham, was to enter a nolle prosequi on the case as it went to the Magistrate's Court.  However, in their rush, AG officers failed to include Nygard's name in the annulment request.  Delaney signed the paper which allowed all but Bacon to duck the criminal case for now.

Therefore, according to Nygard Attorney Keod Smith, Bacon remains a fugitive and can be arrested wherever police officers locate him.

Lyford Cay Crew Can't Evade the Law

During the Free National Movement's last term in office, there were rich investors all over the Bahamas acting as if they had a 'get out of jail free' card and could do whatever they liked to suit their own interests.

Louis Bacon
Peter Nygard
Take for example the Aga Khan IV, multi-billion dollar investor in the Exuma Land and Sea Park. He cut down a hill on that pristine island in the protected park of the Bahamas and the eyesore caught the attention of locals. It was not until protests were launched that the public was made aware that one of the pristine islands in the protected national park was undergoing some form of demolition.

The Aga Khan and former Prime Minister Ingraham along with members of the former Cabinet including Environment Minister Earl Deveaux paraded around the archipelago in the Aga Khan's luxury helicopter, which was seen as a major conflict of interest seeing that he had development proposals on the table.

Earl Deveaux
Then no one can forget that billionaire Louis Bacon was allowed to hold on to some dangerous speaker weapons behind the illustrious gates of Lyford Cay.  Mr. Ingraham and the former Cabinet were so blinded by their investors that they were willing to do almost anything to protect them from the law.  This was obvious because authorities were never allowed to release the result of an autopsy report done on Dan Tuckfield who was reportedly running contraband for Bacon from the seas right into his hidden dock at his house.  Even the dock was constructed illegally as former Senator and leader of government business Dion Foulkes admitted this right on the floor of the Senate, much to the embarassment of the FNM administration.

Investor Peter Nygard had his hands full of problems under the FNM administration as he was not granted a permit to rebuild his home after a fire which was believed to be the result of sabotage, even though his neighbor, Bacon, did his construction illegally and without repercussion.
Pericles Maillis

Bacon went further - after dredging his his marina without permission, he went ahead and extended his property over that of Nygard's, causing several negative effects such as flooding on Nygard property.

Without the assistance of the former Bahamas government, Mr. Nygard had to resort to seeking justice from the court, after Mary Braithwaite of the Lyford Cay Property Owners Association ignored the please of one of her tenants. She, Mr. Bacon, his lawyer Pericles Maillis and several others were listed on that court document.

To date, they have yet to answer to the charges or appear in court, making them fugitives evading the process of the law, according to Nygard's lawyer. Keod Smith.  His legal team may have to take significant action to find the fugitives; however, Mr. Bacon will not be allowed to hide in the Bahamas any longer without the protection of the fallen FNM government.

Al Jarrett

Statement
Bradley B Roberts
National Chairman
Progressive Liberal Party
On the passing of Alfred Jarrett MBA CMG
22nd May 2012
Today the Progressive Liberal Party mourns the passing of Mr. Alfred Jarrett, a Bahamian patriot, a faithful and fearless warrior and one of our country’s foremost experts on banking, finance and economics.
Mr. Jarrett made tremendous contributions to the growth and development of the Financial Services Sector and domestic banking in particular; he was a strong believer in empowering Bahamians and a tenacious advocate of believing in Bahamians.
He served with distinction as chairman of both the Bahamas Electricity Corporation and the Bank of the Bahamas during the first Christie administration between 2002 and 2007.
An ardent sportsman and a great fan of baseball, Al was a formidable force as short stop in his earlier years.
Mr. Jarrett was very vocal and painfully honest as he engaged in vigorous policy debates with friends and colleagues.
Few will forget Al’s enthusiastic debates and strongly held beliefs on national television and radio. He entertained some, he angered some, but he enlightened all of us.
To the end he remained one of the PLP’s strongest critics, but was one of the party’s enduring pillars who worked tirelessly to advance the cause of the party he loved so dearly and served so faithfully.
On behalf of the Progressive Liberal Party, I express my heartfelt condolences to his loving and faithful wife Linda, his children, grandchildren, siblings and friends during this very difficult period. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
May his soul and the souls of all the dearly departed rest in peace.
FNM CAN'T REGROUP AFTER AWFUL DEFEAT AT THE POLLS

The Free National Movement is still licking its bleeding wounds after getting a nasty beating at the polls for the May 7 General Elections.  But those wounds won’t heal anytime soon because FNM leaders now have to bear the thrashing of those mega-rich investors who had high hopes and were sold the dream that he would remain Prime Minister of the Bahamas and could fulfill their wishes for the next five years.
But it is those same investors who, in many ways, cost them the elections.  Three of the known friends of the FNM who are developers helped to tarnish their image in major ways during their last term in office.  The Tribune newspaper printed a RED LETTER headline in their publication, attacking former Environment Minister Earl Deveaux for being so friendly with billionaire Islamic investor, Aga Khan IV that he was caught jetting around in the Aga Khan’s luxury helicopter even though he had a proposal for excavation and dredging before him from the same investor.
Mr. Ingraham made one of his most fatal mistakes as the nation’s leader when he sided with Mr. Deveaux on the matter.  He went as far as to say that he also rode in the helicopter and chilled out at Bell Island while their grandchildren played - and he would do it again and again!  He rejected Mr. Deveaux’s resignation and went on to allow his entire Cabinet to use the luxury aircraft to travel throughout the country to view the devastation left by hurricanes.  It didn’t help that Mr. Deveaux was quietly building his dream home at Old Fort Bay at the same time.
The newspapers took to bashing Mr. Deveaux once again when he allowed Louis Bacon to dredge for his marina without a permit. Then the former National Security Minister made it even more obvious that the FNM Cabinet was covering up for Bacon when they allowed him to keep dangerous military speaker weapons at his home even though he had intentionally used them to harm his neighbor, Peter Nygard.  Police officers even covered up the results of an autopsy report done on Dan Tuckfield, his late employee who was found floating naked in Bacon’s pool, dead.
Former Finance Minister Zhivargo Laing didn’t gain any points for the government during the controversial sale of BTC.  An irate public had to deal with the person responsible for finances telling them that there wasn’t much difference between 49 and 51 per cent ownership.
Former Culture Minister Charles Maynard added to the disgraced Cabinet when he failed to bring Carifesta to The Bahamas, although much advertising had been done to say the event would be held here, causing much anticipation from residents.
As one political pundit put it, “Mr. Ingraham did what he wanted, when he wanted, how he wanted no matter what the people of the country wanted or needed.  He took care of who he needed to and wanted to in the inner circle of FNM benefactors and cronies and left those who believed in him in the wider public to fend for themselves.”
“He fired customs officers, told high ranking police officers to go home and basically threw veteran ZNS employees out on their butts and called them ungrateful.  He used government funds to build a temporary port and gave the shareholders a 45 year monopoly. He watched as thousands lost their homes to foreclosure.  He promised a new hospital, which he never built. He gave a contract to a foreign company to build roads who botched the job to the tone of almost $100 million in over runs. Even in the face of all this mismanagement and bad decision making the FNM still thought that they could pull it out in the end.”

BACON CONTINUES TO OUTRUN THE LONG ARM OF THE LAW
Louis Bacon, the Billionaire Hedge Fund Manager - influential financial backer of the Free National Movement and resident at Point House in Lyford Cay and with a residence at Kamaleme Cay off Andros has evaded Bahamian Police on two occasions as they turned up at his Nassau residence to serve criminal and civil summons on him in action brought by Mr. Peter Nygard, the international house of fashion designer CEO and mogul.
A spokesman for the Nygard legal team told our News Team that Mr. Bacon can run but he can’t hide and they will eventually catch up with him and complete the process.
The spokesman said, “It is not unusual for wealthy persons like Mr. Bacon to consider themselves above and beyond the law. Mr. Bacon had become accustomed to his powerful friends in the former FNM Government to keep a wedge between him and the law. Things have changed since May 7th and no one is above the law in the Commonwealth of The Bahamas,” the spokesman said.
Louis Bacon
Mr. Nygard has filed criminal and civil actions against Mr. Bacon for his involvement and conduct in a spirited international campaign to damage Mr. Nygard’s brand name and bring him into international disrepute and public odium. The suit claims that persons were allegedly bribed by persons employed by Mr. Bacon to conjure up malicious allegations against Mr. Nygard in this regard.
Previously under the FNM administration when Police raided Mr. Bacon’s home and took away a high decibel powered sound system used to disturb the peace relentlessly at Nygard Cay, then FNM Minister of National Security Tommy Turnquest interfered and ordered the speakers returned.
And just weeks before the May 7th general elections an Immigration raid at Mr. Bacon’s Lyford Cay home where three foreigners were taken into custody was thwarted when Immigration bosses ordered the suspects to be returned to Mr. Bacon’s custody.
In April FNM Attorney General John Delaney, a resident of Lyford Cay entered a controversial Nolle Prosequi in a criminal action in the Magistrate’s Court against Mr. Bacon.
That decision is now subject of an appeal.

COULD FIND OF GUNS AT LOUIS BACONS HOME IN LYFORD CAY BE CAUSE FOR GOVERNMENT STRINGENT MEASURES ON SMUGGLING OF GUNS IN THE BAHAMAS:

With the High proliferation of crime and violence and deaths mainly with the use of various high powered guns in the Bahamas, the new Progressive liberal Party (PLP) administration is implementing a series of stringent measures to rid the streets from these high-powered guns that are finding their way in the hands of the country’s youths.

Louis Bacon
To help curb this great and dangerous threat in the proliferation of guns that are being used killing the young Bahamian men week after week , the new Perry Christie PLP administration just having been sworn into power after winning the general elections on May 7th, has hit the ground running on crime by having its new Minister of National Security Dr. Hon. Bernard Nottage putting more stringent security measures on the PORT OF ENTRIES for ALL MARINAS in the Bahamas no matter how small the vessel may be.  These marinas, says Minister Nottage, are believed to be the main cause of the SMUGGLING OF GUNS into the Bahamas in great numbers at the highest caliber in weaponry.

Such a concern against the smuggling of guns in the Bahamas arose about four years ago when the police made a surprise visit the Point House home and property of Louis Bacon in Lyford Cay.  The surprise search of Bacon’s home was to investigate whether Bacon had and was using some illegal ULTRA SONIC MILITARY SPEAKERS  on one of his neighbours.  The search proved to be true where the police found and confiscated some six of the military speakers that are used by the police for the control of large crowds.
Police raid underway at Bacon's home
Surprisingly, in the search the police also found nearly twenty (20) guns, though licensed, that were allegedly not properly concealed, enabling any one of Bacon’s staff to use them.  When members of the press had asked Commissioner of Police Ellison Greenslade about the large number of guns found at Louis Bacons home in Lyford Cay, Mr. Greenslade them that such a find greatly concerned him and that he would be looking into sush a matter  He added that he sought to possibly have the laws changed to enforce a limit on the number of guns that anyone, especially foreign residents, could have in their home or possession.
Bacon's military- grade speakers camouflaged
Brent Symonette
When this word got out the then Minister of National Security Hon. Tommy Turnquest of the previous Hubert Ingraham Free National Movement (FNM) Administration caused for such a thought by the police commissioner to cease.

Such a find of a large number of guns also pricked the interest of the of then FNM Minister of Immigration and Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Brent Symonette because of the high number of guns finding its way on the Bahamian streets that were being used by gangs and others in senseless killings.   They knew that the  foreign resident Louis Bacon was not taking the necessary precautions by ensuring that the large number of guns on his property were safe, especially from the use of his staff members who were not licensed to use any of the guns.
What was more of a concern to the Immigration Minister and the commissioner of police was the knowledge that Bacon had illegally dredged a secret marina leading into Bacons Point House home where it was also alleged that guns were being smuggled into the country.  It is alleged that Bacons former property manager Dan Tuckfield, who was found dead at Bacons home in a death said to be suspicious by the authorities, was perhaps the leader in the smuggling of guns and other alleged illegal acts on the property of Louis Bacon.

All of this caused for great concern and suspicion by members of the previous administration and the police and more so now under the present PLP administration.
The new Minister, Dr. Nottage has called for a serious clampdown on the marinas as one of his first major concerns in attacking the country’s serious crime problem that is marred with unwarranted murders.  He wants all major and small ports and marinas to be closely monitored to ensure that they are no longer being used as a conduit in the smuggling of guns into the Bahamas.
This concern and call of aggression on the smuggling of guns into the Bahamas has caused for the Police, Customs and Department of immigration to now take a close look at all of the small marinas, especially those in Lyford Cay and at Kamalame Cay on the island of Andros and the Exuma Cays where the Aga Khan and other rich and famous and special interest groups with marinas reside.

Members of the public have high hopes for the new Perry Christie led administration and already is giving high marks for the quick move that the Minister of National Security Dr. Hon. Bernard Nottage is taking in seeking out all of the ports and marinas in the Bahamas with the hope of putting a big dent in the scourge in the smuggling of GUNS, DRUGS and HUMAN CARGO.

COULD LOUIS BACON BE CAUSE OF INQUIRY ON INGRAHAM, EARL & TOMMY

With the great defeat of the Hubert Ingraham’s Free National Movement party (FNM) at the polls in the May 7th, general elections The Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) won 29 of the 38 seats, Louis Bacon the alleged financier of the FNM is now on the run and leaving former Prime Minister Hubert Ingraham and former Cabinet Ministers Earl Deveaux, Tommy Turnquest, Dion Foulkes and John Delaney to fend for themselves.
This comes after the FNM government had established a strong relationship with Louis Bacon the Hedge Fund King some fifteen years ago, who in turn reportedly bank rolled the FNM over the years with hundreds of millions of dollars and also reportedly spent millions in individual campaign contributions to FNM candidates.
It is alleged that some of those persons were FNM leader Hubert Ingraham, Earl Deveaux, Tommy Turnquest and John Delaney.

With such a political force on his side Louis Bacon was able to get away with anything in the Bahamas. Over the years Bacon was able to get away with all matters that were raised against him of any of his henchmen. On a number of criminal matters that took place at Bacons Point House in Lyford Cay such as the suspicious death of his property manager Dan Tuckfield, the police confiscation of a pair of military-type acoustic sound blasters, then National Security Minister Tommy Turnquest ordered the police to back off on the investigation of Tuckfield’s death and the return of the deadly Ultra Sonic speakers. There was the Immigration matter when officers last year swoop Louis Bacon's Point House home in Lyford Cay and found and took two suspicious German nationals and one American into custody. Before the convoy reached the Detention Centre, a telephone call ordered that the three be released.
It appears evident that with the help and full support of Ingraham, Deveaux, Turnquest, Foulkes and Pericles Maillis, a long time Bacon associate and lawyer, Louis Bacon had the unfettered license to do pretty much as he pleased in the Bahamas. It was reported that these former FNM Cabinet Ministers were so drunk with power and mesmerized with the Bacons wealth they forget to keep their oath to protect the Bahamas and its people from such persons as Bacon which was a major factor in them and the FNM party being dealt a crippling blow of defeat to the PLP at the polls in the May 7thgeneral elections.
One would have to think that with all of this wheeling and dealing going on between the FNM Government and Louis Bacon something had to give and according to one political observer their diabolical plot over the course of years had to backfire. As reported that such a disabling blow to the badly fallen and powerless FNM Party now leaves Mr. Bacon fully exposed and he would know that in the hedge fund business, such exposure always leads to disaster.
It has been reported that Bacon who has been hiding away in his private posh resort at Kamalame Cay on the island of Andros during the campaign that just before he got wind that the FNM were about to lose the general election.  Then quickly in the dead of night he fled to the island because it is believed that he is a fugitive wanted in the Bahamas for some alleged criminal acts he took against fashion mogul Peter Nygard.
Louis Bacon who has been described as cold, calculating, sinister and will use his wealth and power to crush anything or anyone that gets in his way very much the same way he attempted to drive his Lyford Cay neighbor, Peter Nygard , The Canadian fashion mogul from his home in the Bahamas. In this case like they say; “The Rabbit (Nygard) gat the gun”.
According to the Caribbean Interpol spokesperson, as of late law enforcement intelligence have been zooming in on Bacons two hide outs in the Bahamas namely Lyford Cay in Nassau the capital of New Providence and Kamalamie Cay on the island of Andros. As reported by a Trinidadian Officer says “The easily verifiable conclusion that smuggling is going on as an enterprise is what you get when you discover the characters hired to captain the vessel. A captain known to always be moving between Haiti, the Turks and Caicos Islands, the Bahamas and South Florida is moving contraband. He said that they have conversations recorded on cameras with court room admissible audio quality where instructions are heard being given and code names of the contraband that is being moved is revealed”.
We know that that the Deputy Leader of the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) has called for a commission of inquiry into several matters while on the campaign trail. With the PLP now in office, the radar could turn on the smugglers as well.

Day and Night in the Dupuch Family

The landslide victory of the Progressive Liberal Party in the May 7, 2012 General Elections resulted in many a commentary by those who have been recording the history of the Bahamas for decades.  Much contribution to this cause was made by the Dupuch family.  The legacy of Sir Etienne Dupuch is one of fairness in his reporting; while doing justice to the black people who account for the majority of the population, yet their cause is normally not promoted.

A veteran of the First World War, Sir Etienne introduced into the Bahamian House of Assembly the first comprehensive anti-discrimination legislation in the country's history, which outlawed the practice of racial discrimination in hotels, restaurants and other public places at time when the country's tourist industry was experiencing dramatic growth.  His children, left to carry on his legacy, have each maintained publication and commentary of the Bahamas, but their views contrast differently.

Pierre Dupuch followed in his father's footsteps, in that he served honorably in Parliament.  Eileen Dupuch - Carron, also followed in her father's footsteps, carrying on the legacy of the Tribune Newspaper, now more than 100 years old.  However, her publications have contrasted greatly from that of her father and even her brother, Pierre.  Mrs. Carron has sided with the Free National Movement so many times in her editorials that it has resulted in the branding of a once independent newspaper as a biased one.

Eileen Dupuch-Carron
The latest blatant biased editorial took place on May 8, the day after the PLP literally upset former Prime Minister Hubert Ingraham and the FNM.  Her scathing criticism of the governing party on its first day in office showed just how out of touch she is with the general public.  Her newspaper has a duty to be fair and just but her editorial allows her to take the liberty to influence reader's impressions with negativity instead of optimism.  If she continues this trend that she has started right out of the gate with, she runs the risk of costing her company its reputation and its bottom line.
Earl Deveaux

Even when her reporters broke the news that former Minister of Environment Earl Deveaux had been riding up and down in luxury helicopters with a rich investor with his proposal on the table, she used her editorial to soften this big blow to the FNM instead of maintaining the journalistic principle of justice and revelation of the facts.

Her reporters were obviously gagged because the story was dropped while stories of less significance were promoted.  The reporters failed to continue the story when that investor, Aga Khan IV, shaved own a major hill without a permit.  They also failed to pick up the story when former Minister Deveaux's friend, Brian Hughes, dug deep into the fish nursery in Andros, upsetting the cycle of thousands of fish.

If Eileen Carron had any intention of being just in reporting the news, why would she ignore the series of letters that her brother, Pierre, has written and dispersed concerning the corruption that he was aware of taking place in the FNM Government?

Pierre Dupuch
Steve McKinney
Brent Symonette
Pierre Dupuch was known for his hard-hitting letters about what was going on in the FNM.  For example, he revealed the undercover deals that FNM Cabinet Ministers were partaking in, selling the very rock of the Bahamas.  His letters were coming out during the same time that veteran journalist and broadcaster Steve KcKinney was making the same revelations on his talk show, Hard Copy.  They were both crying shame on the government of the day for allegedly selling Bahamian limestone rock to pharmaceutical companies and road paving companies in the United States.  Both of these men of credit in the Bahamian political discourse called out the FNM Ministers for this practice, which they claim resulted in billions of dollars of money that should have gone to taxpayers, going out of the country under the radar.  The words of Dupuch and McKinney led many to discern that former Deputy Prime Minister Brent Symonette had a hand in these deals, because each time the FNM is in power, his Bahama Hot Mix Company is awarded contracts that all have to do with excavation and road paving.
Hubert Ingraham

In recent days, Mr. Dupuch used his series of emails to reveal much about Hubert Ingraham, whose Cabinet he served in.  He revealed that the former Prime Minister is a dictator and described his heartless approach to governance.  He called him out for the suspected black "Obeah hat" and declared that God would decide this election and not Obeah.

The common saying, "The voice of the people is the voice of God"would hold true if everything these men have been saying is correct.  It seems that Eileen and Pierre, son and daughter of the late Sir Ettienne, are like night and day when it comes to what is truth and what is falsehood.  Their virtues will be tested now that their party, the FNM, doesn't even have a respectable cadre of MPs to take to the House of Assembly for the next five years.

Bacon On The Run

The Bahamas documented a new page in Bahamian history on May 7, 2012, when the General Elections resulted in a return of the seat of government to the Progressive Liberal Party.  On this day, May 8, the country saw its Prime Minister of 2002 to 2007 return to serve another term.  Hon. Perry Gladstone Christie was sworn in as Prime Minister at about 4pm in a swearing-in ceremony after a landslide victory at the polls for his party.

Hubert Ingraham
The crushing defeat of outgoing Prime Minister Hubert Ingraham and the Free National Movement Party spoke volumes about the level of frustration the Bahamian people had with the former government.  The FNM's loss at the polls doesn't signal the end of the race, but rather, the start of a new race as they will have to haul tail to evade the many wealthy investors who bought into Ingraham's "one man band"vision; he is now the one man responsible for appeasing those investors.

Earl Deveaux
Mr. Ingraham allowed his Cabinet Ministers to do too much to cover up for the wealthy investors funding the party.  One such alleged investor is a hedge fund giant whose company is one of several being monitored with regard to a multi-billion dollar international hedge fund scam.  Louis Bacon of Moore Capital is known to be a friend of the FNM and his efforts were rewarded as he broke the laws of the Bahamas more than once and got away with it.  He dredged the coastline without the permission of the Ministry of Environment and was later extended the courtesy of a permit from former Minister of Environment Earl Deveaux.  He was in possession of ultra-sonic Long Range Device Speakers that could harm people as well as interfere with airport radar signals, yet former Minister of National Security Tommy Turnquest still allowed Bacon to keep the speakers after a legitimate raid was conducted on his home.  Louis Bacon even got the authorities to hide the results of the autopsy performed on his former alleged trafficker Dan Tuckfield, who died of a heart attack in Bacon's pool where he was discovered naked.

Louis Bacon
Then, the biggest cover up happened when the Attorney General himself was instructed by Mr. Ingraham to enter a nolle prosequi to stop the criminal case against Bacon, which was launched by Bacon's neighbor, Canadian fashion mogul Peter Nygard.  Nygard had succeeded in his first round of hearings in the case against the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation for slanering him in a Larger than Life documentary of the programme Fifth Estate.  Judges saw merit in his case as Nygard's lawyers noted the case of libel against the CBC by two heart doctors in Canada, noted that the CBC has committed libel before.

Nygard's attorneys Keod Smith and Alfred Sears told the media that they have witnesses ready to take the stand to testify that they were paid money, up to $10,000 to speak against Mr. Nygard and paint a picture of him as a tyrant of sorts.

Former AG Delaney made a fatal mistake when he left out Bacon's name from that annulling court document.  With a change in governance, AG Delaney will be nowhere around to help Bacon out of this quagmire that Nygard contends that he created.  It means that Bacon is, in essence, a fugitive, according to attorney Smith, who had, before the elections, stated that Mr. Ingraham and his boys were hiding Bacon from receiving a court summons.

The FNM did not take care of Bacon before their demise.  Bacon's attorney Pericles Maillis covered his back and ensured that his name was cleared from the rap sheet.  Even Mary Braithwaite, Managing Director of Lyford Cay Property Owners Association was included on the nolle prosequi as well as private investigator Jerry Forrester, disgraced police officer Bradley Pratt, and two CBC executives.

He remains a fugitive and if Maillis does not take care of his business, he may have another reason to worry about international criminal investigations.
